ACCREDITATION
Rural Contractors New Zealand is committed to ensuring as far as it is practicable, that members provide the best services to their clients. There are two reasons for this:
-
To ensure that the client receives the best service available and that those rural contractors who have acheieved the various stages of accreditation are duly recognised.
-
To assist clients in meeting overseas requirments which are now being required for traceability and social sustainability.
The three accreditation areas along with applications, certificates and other information are shown below.
Those rural contractors who have acheived one or more of the accreditation levels may include an Accreditation Certificate to that effect, which may be downloaded from the Members' Area of this web site and MUST be acompanied by a printout for the "Find A Contractor" page, showing the member's details.
Registered Contractor is a firm that has undergone a significant independant audit to ensure that the firm is meeting its statutory and regulatory responsibilities. This process is undertaken to reduce the risk to the client and to minimise the client's exposure to liability in employment, health and safety and other areas.
The audit process is undertaken every three years and in the event of the firm changing ownership, the new owners are required to sign a declaration that all of the items confirmed in the origninal audit are still in place.
The process of becoming a Registered Contractor is not onerous and those that are operating their business in a proper manner should have little difficulty. Details of the matters covered in the audit are shown on the Accreditation Certificate.

Qualified Contractor is a firm where the owner, manager or an employee in a supervisory capacity holds a NZQA Level 3 National Certificate in one or more of the skills offered to clients.
The status is awarded solely on the acheivement of the NZQA qualification and remains in place while the relevant employees are in the firm's employment. This process requires annual certification.
