A. Predominantly members are involved in agriculture, horticulture and viticulture, Chemical applications on the ground and in forests, roadside mowing, vegetation control and other forms of contracting applicable to the Rural Servicing Sector.
Q. Is membership limited to Rural Contractors?
A. No, but the greater majority of members undertake contracting in the rural sector. However, other contractors who, for example, apply agricultural chemical in urban areas are also members.

A. The main source of funding is through subscriptions paid by members. The financial year is from 1 April to 31 March and subscriptions are charged pro rata for members joining through the year. Information on current subscription rates will be supplied on enquiry. Companies which service the Rural Contracting Sector are welcome to join the Federation as Associate members. This provides these companies with a link to the Federation and it's members and is acknowledged throughout the year. In addition, the association has it's own insurance facility, which benefits both members and the federation. Discounts for members are aggresively being pursued in a number of goods and services.
Q. How does the Federation operate?
A. The Federation operates by a constitution and has a National Council comprising 7 members elected annually. Four of the councillors are elected regionally and three elected at the Annual Conference. The Federation has a part-time Executive Director based in Wellington in an office close to Government and other organisations with which a close liaison is maintained. An Annual Conference is held at differing locations around New Zealand and regional meetings are held during the year to enable members to meet together for fellowship and to discuss matters of common interest. The Federation publishes a bi-monthly newsletter and members also receive the Contractor magazine as well as other industry related magazines.
